About Elite Motorhomes
Learn more about how Elite Motorhomes started and where we are now.
How the Company Started
Elite Motorhomes was established in 1995. It was officially incorporated in 1997 by the Maynard family in Middleton Cheney, Oxfordshire. The idea was conceived at Lower Grange Park in the late 1990s, when founder Paul Maynard had recently retired. Retirement didn’t suit him for long. He bought a couple of motorhomes and started a low-key rental operation from home. Elite Motorhomes grew from there, through low overheads, long hours and high utilisation.
Within a couple of years, the fleet had grown to around 25 vehicles. The business had outgrown the house, so it was time to move. Chelston Motorhomes had recently closed its operation in Middleton Cheney, giving Paul the perfect opportunity to move in. Sales soon began to overtake rental, and the decision was made to drop rental altogether and focus on sales. The rest, as they say, is history.
The business was built on strong family values from day one. It has grown from that first small fleet to a stock of over 60 vehicles today, with family members still at the heart of day-to-day operations.
We operate from our site near Banbury. Over the years, the Maynard family has built a trusted reputation across the UK. We’re known for a personal touch, deep industry expertise and dependable after-sales support.
Key milestones
Overcoming Adversity
In 2011, our family-run business faced a major setback. A suspected arson attack destroyed 7 motorhomes on site, causing around £300,000 in damage. We recovered, and we’ve kept growing our offering ever since.
Modern Growth
Elite Motorhomes is thriving today. We’ve modernised our operations to offer everything from part-exchange deals to professional vehicle handovers. It’s all backed by a team that knows the industry inside out.
Hands-On Leadership
The Maynard family is still actively involved in running the company. Director Paul Maynard has been a driving force for over 17 years. He focuses heavily on the technical and after-sales side of the business.
Early Expansion
We started with a small lot of around 20 motorhomes. From there, we expanded our Banbury site to hold over 60 vehicles. We took an active role in trade shows and invested in proactive marketing to get there.
